Berlin19grams19grams has been roasting specialty coffee in Berlin since 2002, making it one of the city's most enduring names in the field. The roastery takes its name from the standard espresso dose — a nod to precision that runs through their approach. With a training room at Alexanderplatz and an active workshop calendar, 19grams operates as much as a coffee education hub as it does a production roastery. Founded over two decades ago, 19grams has grown from a single-focus roastery into a multi-channel operation covering retail, wholesale, online sales, and barista training. The Coffee Vine has described them as "Berlin's stalwart coffee roaster who never sits still," a characterization consistent with a catalog that spans everything from daily-driver espressos to small-lot rarities. Their longevity in a city with a crowded specialty scene speaks to consistent quality rather than trend-chasing. The current lineup is organized by brew method and roast depth: light filter roasts, modern espressos, darker roasts intended for super-automatics, and a rotating rarities section featuring Geisha and other limited lots. Recent offerings include a washed Finca Naranjal from Peru, described with notes of orange, vanilla, and caramel. They source through what they describe as a close, direct network of producers, with transparency and fair terms as stated priorities. Special edition releases — such as "The Siren's Call" — suggest ongoing experimentation beyond the core menu.
